About San Clemente Cabinet Pros

A cabinetry referral service for San Clemente, California and the South Orange County coast. This page sets out how a job actually runs, what we publish, and the short list of things we refuse to do that most sites in this trade do routinely.

  • Measured, not estimated
  • Sources named
  • No invented reviews
  • No invented lead times

What we are

San Clemente Cabinet Pros is an independent cabinetry referral service covering San Clemente, California and the coast and valleys around it: Dana Point, Capistrano Beach, San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel. We connect homeowners with licensed local cabinet makers and installers, and we publish the research behind the advice.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of San Clemente, and we have no connection to San Clemente Island off this coast or to the towns of the same name elsewhere. That disambiguation is in the footer of every page because the name genuinely is shared.

How a job runs

Seven stages, described in full on the custom cabinets page and set out with their real drivers in the timeline guide. The short version: somebody comes to the house and measures it, you get drawings and an itemised written scope, you sign a contract that follows California law, the cabinets are made and finished away from your house, they are installed and scribed on site, and somebody comes back after the kitchen has been used to adjust the doors and drawers that have settled.

That last visit is the one that gets dropped by contractors working too large an area, which is why our service area is four cities rather than four counties.

What we publish, and why

Every figure on this site names the source it came from, in the sentence that uses it. Cost bands are attributed to published national, California and Los Angeles-area sources and labelled by the geography they describe. Regulatory material is quoted from the City of San Clemente’s own ordinance and handouts, from the California codes, from the federal EPA and from the South Coast air district. Wood movement data comes from the USDA Forest Products Laboratory. Service life figures come from four separate published tables that disagree with each other, and we say so rather than picking the flattering one.

The point of that discipline is not thoroughness for its own sake. It is that you can check any of it, and a claim you can check is worth more than a claim you cannot.

What we refuse to do

  • Invent a lead time. No published source gives a defensible figure for this market, so the timeline guide names stages and their drivers and contains no week counts at all
  • State a San Clemente-only per-linear-foot rate. No published source gives one, so the cost pages use California and Los Angeles-area bands and label them as such
  • Publish a customer review we do not have, with or without a plausible name attached
  • Attribute this content to an invented individual with invented credentials
  • Repeat a figure from a search result summary without reading the page it came from
  • Claim coverage of an area we would not realistically service properly, including the return visit
  • Print a City of San Clemente phone number on a site that has no phone number of its own

Licensing, and what to check

California requires a contractor’s licence for any cabinet job of consequence. Business and Professions Code 7048 exempts unlicensed work only where the aggregate contract price for labour, materials and all other items is under $1,000, the work is of a casual, minor or inconsequential nature, and no building permit is required. A kitchen clears that many times over.

The specialty classification is C-6, Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry. The licence number goes on the paperwork so you can check it yourself on the Contractors State License Board’s public lookup, which takes about ninety seconds and shows the classification, the status, the bond and the workers’ compensation position. The full picture is in the permit and licensing guide.

Photographs

Every photograph on this site is licensed, credited and listed on the credits page, with images actually taken in San Clemente and the surrounding cities listed separately from those that were not. No photograph here is another contractor’s job presented as ours, and no before and after pair on this site claims to be work we did. Real job photographs belong to whoever did the job, and they will appear here only when they are ours to publish.

What happens when you send the form

Four fields: your name, a number that reaches you, where the property is, and roughly what you need. That produces a measured visit, and the visit produces a drawing and an itemised written scope with a real number on it. Nothing is committed until you sign, the deposit is capped by statute at $1,000 or ten percent of the contract whichever is less, and because the contract is signed at your kitchen table rather than at a place of business, the three business day right to cancel applies.

If what you actually want is to understand the decision before talking to anybody, the guide library is written for exactly that, and none of it requires you to buy anything to be useful. The services themselves are on the services hub.

About us: frequently asked questions

Who are San Clemente Cabinet Pros?

An independent cabinetry referral service for San Clemente, California and the surrounding South Orange County coast. We connect homeowners with licensed local cabinet makers and installers, and we publish the research behind every figure on this site so you can check it rather than take it on trust. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of San Clemente.

Why is there no phone number on this site?

Because a phone number nobody answers is worse than none. Every enquiry comes through the four-field form, which reaches a person and produces a measured visit. When there is a number worth publishing it will appear here, in the footer and in the site's structured data at the same time, rather than as a decoration on a contact page.

Are the reviews on this site real?

There are none, which is deliberate. Fabricated customer quotes with invented names are a standard feature of this trade and they are worthless to you and legally exposed for whoever publishes them. When there are real reviews from named people about work actually done, they will appear with attribution. Until then this site relies on being checkable instead.

Who writes this and are they a named expert?

The content is written and maintained by San Clemente Cabinet Pros as an organisation, not attributed to an invented individual with invented credentials. That is an honest position rather than a modest one: a fabricated author byline is the same deception as a fabricated review. What makes the content trustworthy is that every load-bearing figure names its published source in the sentence that uses it.

What do you refuse to do?

Invent a lead time, state a San Clemente-only per-linear-foot rate that no source supports, publish a customer quote we do not have, claim a certification nobody holds, or repeat a figure from a search summary without reading the page it came from. The visible consequence of the first is that the timeline guide contains no week counts at all.

How do you choose which contractor does the work?

Licence first, then fit. The CSLB classification for cabinetry is C-6, Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry, and a B general building licence covers it within a wider project. After that it is a question of matching the job to somebody who does that kind of work regularly, because a shop that builds painted contemporary kitchens every week and one that does rustic alder every week are not interchangeable.
